Girl Scout Winter Craft: How To Make Simple Snowflakes

Here is a video tutorial on how to make simple snowflakes. The girls in your troop will have fun making their own. This is probably best for the older girls (Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors), but the younger girls (Daisies, Brownies) may be able to make a simpler one depending on their coordination. Adult troop leaders can also assist those who need additional help.

Making snow flakes is always a fun activities for girls. The usually think is very cool and they can be creative. Have the girls compare their snow flakes and see how different they are. Also, use some light blue paper for a change. Let the girls be creative and explore options.

Did your girls make snow flakes for Winter or the holidays? How did they like it? Where they excited about it?

Girl Scout Craft Idea: How To Make A Jewelry Box Out Of A Book

Girl Scouts love to make crafts and many of them love jewelry. Here is a great way to learn how to make a jewelry box out of a book. This project will be for the older girls in scouting (Cadette, Senior, Ambassador). If you want to do this with younger girls, then the leader can do the cutting of the book ahead of time and the Brownies and Juniors can add the decorations. The Girl Scout leader can also demonstrate the cutting part so the girls will learn the process.

Ideas For Veteran's Day With Girl Scouts

Veteran's Day is a time to honor those who have served our country. It is also a time in which we can teach girls in our Girl Scout troops about the holiday. There are a few simple things you can do with your girls during this time.

Discuss the Holiday

Ask the girls if they know what Veteran's Day is all about. Also, ask them if they have any family members (or friends of the family) who are veterans. Ask the girls what things they think they can do to honor veterans in their local area.

Discussion time can be very informative to the girls. Younger girls can learn as well as the older girls. If the girls do not have much feedback on the holiday, have some ideas handy to give them conversation starters. A conversation starter will provide them with hints to talk about.

Veteran's Day Troop Activities

In the past, our girl scout troop has created cards for veterans. They colored flag shape cards and also added a message inside to give to someone they know who has served their country. If the girls do not know of someone, the troop can contact the local veteran's center to see if they can deliver cards for the local veterans.

Get Involved in the Community

There are a variety of ways to get involved in the community. This can be to collect canned goods to create baskets for veterans in the area. The girls in the girl scout troops can also enter the Veteran's Day Parade if one is locally available.

Do you have Veteran's Day ideas you would like to share? Please leave your comment below. We would love to hear some of the things you have done in your girl scout troop or with your girls at home on a personal level!

Welcome to Simple Girl Scout Fun!

Welcome to Simple Girl Scout Fun!

Are you looking for simple solutions to help with your Girl Scout meetings? Or, are you a home school mom who is working with a Girl Scout Juliette? Maybe, you are looking for some fun and new ideas to present to your girls!

Leading Girl Scouts can be so much fun and it is rewarding to see how the girls make a difference in the community while learning and sharing with each other. As a Girl Scout mom and leader, I have worked with Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes. Before long, I will also be working with Seniors and Ambassadors.

In the months to come, I will be sharing some ideas provided and used in our troop meetings as well as some from other moms who have been involved in Girl Scouting (with their permission). Together, we can learn different ideas and give our girls the best possible learning experience through scouting.

Others are also welcome to read ideas presented here on the blog. The ideas presented are not limited to use with girl scouts only - they are also great ideas to use with your home school children and during family time with public school children.

Take a few moments to bookmark this blog as well as my other helpful blogs on homeschooling, working from home, and tips for home sweet home. I look forward to sharing ideas and fun things to do with girls of all ages - I will also be posting pictures of projects our girls have done during troop time, field trips, and service unit events.

Thank you,
